Pro-life campaign or the worlds worst people?

I was torn about writing this post, purely because I am still not sure if it is purely a pro-life campaign.

If you don't know what I am talking about it is a couple called Pete & Alisha Arnold who have set up a website to decide whether their should abort their perfectly healthy 17 week old foetus!!!!

They say they have set up the site as they are not sure if they want to be parents!!!!!!

WORDS FAIL ME!!!!!!! (actually they don't, but the words I want to use are probably too strong to write down on my blog)

Their defence is..............

'Voting is such an integral part of the American identity. We vote on everything from the best singer on American Idol to who the next leader of the free world will be.

'Wouldn't it be nice to voice your opinion and have it actually make a difference in the real world? Why not vote on whether to continue or abort an actual pregnancy?'

Oh yes because letting other people decide if you are going to abort your baby is up there with who wins American Idol isn't it. In fact, even comparing the two in my opinion gives me the right to confiscate your uterus for the forseeable future.

I am pro-choice, No one should HAVE to have a baby that they do not want, BUT come on, with this HARD choice comes responsibility.

Abortion is NEVER an easy answer, but to put it to a public vote makes a complete mockery of anyone who has agonised long and hard over this decision.

Did they do it because they didn't have any coins to flip?????

What people in their RIGHT minds would sit down and think. "You know what, we need to ask a million strangers what they want us to do"

(The scariest part is so far over half of the people who have voted have voted to abort-These sick people are a whole other blog post)

Even if they continue with the pregnancy, what happens in 16 years or so when the child googles himself or his parents and discovers his fate was down to strangers????

Take a look at the website if you want to.

http://www.birthornot.com/

It will be out there forever for that poor child to find one day.

Doesn't bear thinking about does it?

What do you think on the whole situation?

And how many people out there are like me and HOPE it is just a campaign, otherwise the life of a unborn baby is hanging in the balance dependent on people who have been brought up voting for American Idol, and other reality programmes where the worst that can happen is that someone is voted off the programme

How dare these people make the life of an unborn child SO insignificant.

  2. Disgusting, absolutely disgusting.
But I am LOVING "gives me the right to confiscate your uterus for the forseeable future"
I shall be using that line in the future ;) xx

  3. What I found shocking about this story was the fact that they had been trying for a baby and suffered miscarriages. To go through all that and then 'put it to the vote' whether to abort seems bizarre (definitely disgusting). It makes a mockery of the right to choose and the current issues in America regarding pro-life will only increase. Fuckwits! PS sorry to swear but they really are!

it's truly awful isn't it. A lot of people have said they think it is just a pro life campaign. I really hope it is. I don't want it to be true.

  5. Considering their past attempts to get pregnant ended in miscarriage, I find it a bit bizarre that this couple put such a personal decision up for "vote". I don't get their game, are they simply wanting out of this pregnancy and looking for enough votes to justify it? If they wanted and tried for a baby, why is this even up for discussion?
However as much as I find this whole website abortion voting business despicable, I don't consider the people who voted in favor of abortion 'sick'. It may not be sit well with my moral compass for a healthy fetus to be terminated. but like you said in a previous post- isn't everyone entitled their opinion, their stance on a controversial issue?

  6. * gobsmacked *

Seriously. This is insulting to those couples who can't even have children. I'm disgusted on levels I didn't even know existed. I mean, WTF??? I don't even know how to express my feelings with regards to the couple or their actions.

  7. Aria you raised an interesting point but I don't think that just the people who voted to terminate are sick, anyone who voted either way on such a personal decision needs to take a long hard look at themselves.

The best thing that couldve happened was that no-one voted either way on this.

I'm still not sure the whole thing isn't just some pro-life publicity campaign designed to stir up controversy.

I really hope it is to be honest. X x

  9. I'm positive it's an anti-choice stunt. Apparently the couple are extremely right wing, and that pretty much seems to equal anti-choice in America (I know not always, but 9 times out of 10!) and he has written blogs on his views in the past. I really don't know what they expect to accomplish from this, and I wonder if she is really pregnant? I'm very much pro-choice and people like this couple really make my blood boil!

  10. SICK IN THE HEAD ...should you vote I have a child ! No I have you have your head tested, who does this it's so disrespectful to everyone. People who have had abortions, people who want children. I hope they either have the child and give it up because if you want to vote about this what's next 'should we love, feed and cloth our child you vote' or don't have it and go get some help. My boy was not planned and I knew I had to make a decide before going for my scan. I think it is up to the person having the baby and people should support them whatever they choose. I am soild on Pro choice ! I hate when people put there guilt and feeling on to someone about this. I had a lot of support either way, I did have one stupid person say 'If you don't have 'it' than you will burn in hell' I replied with Firstly it's a baby, and secondly I don't believe in hell, you have never been pregnant so don't know how it feels so kindly fuck off'

I was upset that day as I was going through the will I be a good mother bit, people never think of the fear. I know a lot of people who have gone a head and lost the baby (I had a miscarriage at 19) and I can understand that some women not wanting that or feeling trapped. I say each to their own, everyone is different. These people by the sound of it are scum for treating it like a game show when women who have had to go through (the very unpleasant process)of abortion and live with it every day. I think some people believe these women are heartless, if any of them spoke to women who have they would see that they are scared by it and also that they made the right choice for them. Great post I'm glad to read other people's comments are of angry too. I think @L1nds hit the nail on the head.

  11. P.S I think the site should be shut down too. Freedom of speech aside, what's next 'should we turn off there life machine' or 'should I kill my boss' .... where one moron goes the others will follow. Like you say I really hope it's not true.

  12. It's a shame there's no option of keeping the baby and giving it up to a family who's desperate to have a child but can't.
It's just heartbreaking that the life of a child is put in the balance just like that. I am sorry, but even if the vote said yes go ahead keep the child, they don't really seem to be good parents to me. If they don't take the responsibility to make their decision on their own, they won't be able to make any other kind of responsible decisions in the future...

  13. Before I even opened the post I knew who you were going to be talking about...like you I suspect it's a pro-life campaign or something to get publicity, but seriously, who the hell is voting on this mess? And if it is a publicity thing, who are the couple that have allowed their image to be used?

I am strongly in favour of a woman's right to choose, but I think that those kind of choices should really be a personal, considered and private choice between the parents, not voted for XFactor style, it's gross. It's a massively emotive subject.

  15. It's sick. But as for the people voting to abort, I'm kind of with them because 2 people as crazy as these 2 shouldn't be allowed to raise a child.

  16. I saw the site and did vote - for them to abort. Sick? Your choice but people like that don't deserve a precious baby and that way the fetus wouldn't have to ever see what disturbed parents they could have been. It's also a fetus until born.

  17. Jade can I ask you how long it took you to reach that decision?

And also if the site is real and the vote goes to abortion by one vote how will you feel about your part in it?

I'm not been argumentative here just very interested in the reasoning behind people voting.

  19. i genuinly, 100%, believe this is a publicity stunt, thats pretty much all i have to say on the matter really :/ xxx

  20. Good God... seriously?!
The whole thing is totally disgusting.
This is a quote from a newspaper article that really got me: 'Their site includes ultrasound images of their 17-week unborn boy, which they have nicknamed 'Wiggles'
Speechless. I can only hope that this is just a stunt, which I am inclined to think it is.

  21. I hope they have the baby, and then are hit with a sudden case or morals (though I am pro choice,) give the baby up and hang themselves in absolute shame.

  22. Seriously? I hope this is a publicity stunt because words simply fail me...
