Music Amnesty

Musical taste is such a personal thing, and there really is no right or wrong when it comes to music BUT............................

We all have that dodgy CD or two (or three) at the back of the shelf or a song that you wouldn't really want to come up on your iPod when it was on shuffle and on loudspeaker.

Music defines our moods and a bad day can be improved by listening to some "banging tunes" or a broken heart can be slowly repaired by listening to some love songs (Honestly, it can, ask any teen who has broken up with someone-I sobbed along to Mariah Carey for like......hours)

But I am declaring an amnesty on crap music.

If there is a song out there, cheesy or otherwise that you secretly LOVE and you have never been able to stand up and declare your love due to the embarrassing nature of the song then fret no longer.

This is a judgement free zone.

Our crap music is our CHOICE. and if we want to listen to The Macarena or The Ketchup Song because it makes us happy then why the hell shouldn't we?

So I will start off the baring of the soul.

My name is Kellie and in my CD collection I have Blazin Squad and if I am in a bad mood I put on Flip Reverse and jump around.

No judging please, that's just not done here.

So what is your cheesy music secret?

What embarrassing song do you own?

Let me know because i'm kind of on my own here x x

  1. Does Phil Collins count, when you're 17 years old?

  3. I couldn't think, then Justin Timberlake came on the radio and I found myself singing along... I'm a confirmed Indie girl so this counts as embarrassing for me, as does the 2 Another Level cds I have *ssshhhhhh*

  5. Where do I start? Well, to save my being here for a LONG time I'll bulletpoint...
    a) Flip Reverse It by Blazin Squad is ace - on my 'favourites playlist'. And my best mates too.
    b) Yup, I've got Another Level on my ipod too. Both albums.
    c) Phil Collins - check
    d) You know I've got tickets to see Shayne Ward right? (And it's the second time I'll have seen him live. My boyfriend at the time did point out that I was almost certainly the ONLY person to be going to a James gig and a Shayne Ward gig in the same week. Did I care?)
Clearly, I have NO shame. Plus...whatever works for ya.

  6. Hmm, let me see, what do I have in my CD collection? Oh yes:
    -Spice Girls (first two albums!)

    -Every album by Five

-The Beauty and the Beast Soundtrack from the early nineties (it's my favouritist, favourite CD and the first one I ever owned!!! *hugs it*)

-I thought I had a Backstreet Boys album, but I think I gave that one to Charity some time ago!

I'm sure I have plenty more haha!

  7. I think I must just be particularly shameless when it comes to my taste in music, because I will happily admit to listening to B*Witched and 5ive on the way to work. I also have a big soft spot for Dangerzone and various other 80s film soundtrack songs!

Perhaps it's because I balance it out with obscure and earnest folk music that I figure it all averages out in the end?

  8. The Jonas Brothers. In fact, any squeaky clean Disney pop music really. Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift. I'm 21 years old, I should really be over them by now!

  9. Backstreet Boys.
    Dolly and Kenny
And I did like that one Westlife song - 'World of our own'. Love it. Fugly boys though.

  10. My name is Zi. I worked in music. I write a blog about music. I'd like to think I have good taste yet my favorite songs are Amerie's-One Thing, The New Radicals - you get what you give and Dolly Parton's 9-5. I like the last one so much I even went to see Dolly. Ahem.
