Do you know you're beautiful?
Those five wise boys known as One Direction say it best,
You're insecure
Don't know what for
You're turning heads when you walk
through the door
Don't need make-up
To cover up
Being the way that you are is enough
You don't know you're beautifullllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
Clever little buggers aren't they?
Now ok, it maybe complete bubblegum pop (and a total brainworm) but those young whippersnappers have basically put into words something that has been bothering me for a while.
Women (AND some men as well) WHY do we not see just how beautiful we really are?
Why do we focus on what we DON'T like about our bodies? If someone gives us a compliment about a part of our body why do we deflect them by telling them about a part we dislike.
It's true.
Even in womens magazines, they ask, "what part of your body do you hate?" to many a celeb. (Your knees? your KNEES? REALLY?)
Well I am fed up of it
*pulls out soapbox and calls you all close*
Let us all focus on what we DO love about our bodies, ignore what we dislike/hate/loathe because it isn't important anymore. let us concentrate on our positives for once.
I will even go first if it helps.
My name is Kellie and I like my eyes and my lips. I do and I am not ashamed to say it either.
How about you?
Tell me what you LOVE about your body.
Let me know

Eyes, boobs, bum and my hair is *finally* looking like an actual style again :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love my hair, my skinny wrists, pointy nose and emerging collarbones.
ReplyDeleteThis post pretty much sums up everything I feel about everything. x
Boobs aren't bad for 46 and my hair can generally be beaten into submission.
ReplyDeleteFeet, ankles, eyes and the hair is alright once it's had a going over with the ghds x
ReplyDeleteYou do have very pretty eyes, it has to be said.
ReplyDeleteAs for myself: I rather like my six-pack that I work endlessly on after being a bat fastard for years. Rather vain, no?
Boobs. Mostly boobs.
ReplyDeleteHands and eyes. That is all.
ReplyDeleteHands and eyes. That is all.
ReplyDeleteExactly hands and eyes.
DeleteGreat post-eyes and hair (on non frizzy days)
ReplyDeleteMy hair is pretty good. But you are so right - i am shocked to look at pictures of when I was younger and see how smashing I look. And remember how awful I thought I looked.
ReplyDeleteWhat a waste!
I love my eyes and my lips too! (they're big and bright)
ReplyDeleteI also like the really pale bit of my arm from wrist to the inside of my elbow.
:)

ReplyDeleteSpecifically:
ReplyDelete- my eyes (which I've been told are like blue fire, the Attica sky in May or truth-seeking lasers)
- my lips (at nearly 48 their still full and luscious)
Generally:
- most of the whole deal from neck up. My face is lively and highly expressive (it moves, no place for Botox round here).
- and of course, my all-round charm, wit and personality!
I quite like my body. I wish my face matched it (omg you're right! I totally just insulted myself). No but in all seriousness I like everythig except my face. You're probably thinking that's a negative but there is a lot of body parts there that I'm complementing.
ReplyDeleteAlso this is totally uncalled for but my lady parts (looool I sound like a shitty advert) are quite pleasant. I've seen some real messes in porn but mine are quite tidy. I've had this discussion with my friend and she agrees. Of course I described and didn't show her, she wasn't game.
I got a cheeky grin and my eyes look like they change colour, depending on the light :)
ReplyDeleteI love my eyes because they are big and I can put eyeshadows on them, and my nails are cool as they are strong.
ReplyDeleteAnd my hair (sometimes) when it behaves.
We are all beautiful!
Firstly, I CANNOT believe you have quoted lyrics from One Direction. Do I not put up with that enough?????
ReplyDeleteI look my boobs, they're worth every penny lol xx
I was sitting there last night thinking, I need Alex LOL
DeleteI love my eyes and like my boobs (cant believe i've just said that)
ReplyDeleteI love most of my body cos without it I'd not be me, I'd like to change some things about it, but I still love it :)
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that at 57 my body is still working
ReplyDeleteI love my long legs they're definitely my best asset. I often moan about my height (im 5ft11) but if I was shorter I wouldn't have long legs.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Emma and I luurrvvee my long blonde hair, eyes and booooobs! LOL!
ReplyDeleteEm

Em's Mixed Bag
I really like my face shape and how my cheeks go when I smile! Hahaa
ReplyDeleteOh and I like my hair when it's having a good day!
I agree with you though, young girls like me are having it drummed into their heads what a 'perfect' girl looks like but in reality nobody does!
xx
My name is WitWitWoo and I love my fake ginger hair! I also love my right eye (the left one is a lazy bastard,) and even though far FAR from perfect, I'm also rather partial to les boobs.
ReplyDeleteYou ARE Jessica Rabbit babe x
DeleteMy name is Andrew and I like my smile, face and aesthetically pleasing pink love torpedo.
ReplyDeletePredictable for a man, right?
I like it too ;)
DeleteI love my entire body because it works. I mean it. Health is wealth. My pretty toes are held on by my skinny feet. They carry my dads goalkeeper legs and my mums glorious big arse. That leads to the baby belly that gave me the best things that ever happened to me and above that are the saggy boobs that fed the best things that ever happened to me. Good shoulders, long neck, double chin, good lips, chubby cheeks, big brown eyes, great forehead, dark (coloured grey) hair with a mind of its own disguising a brain that never switches off.
ReplyDeleteSome good, some could REALLY be improved - but it works!!! LOL
It would have to be the laughter lines on my face. I've worked hard on those.
ReplyDeleteI don't like that song because it kinda suggests that the attractive thing about her is her lack of self esteem. I guess it's meant to be "you're gorgeous and not arrogant about it", but why can't she be gorgeous and confident?? I guess I know too many beautiful girls and women who've been taught to think they aren't good looking enough, and even if they might conceivably know how gorgeous they are, they mustn't ever, ever show that they're aware of it, because that's conceited and a bit shameful.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I like my eyes, my legs, my hips, my boobs, my waist, my belly. I also have times when I don't, but never mind those. Oh, and my arse, I've got a cracking arse.
Eyes, boobs, hair. And my 8 inch scar, because it reminds me to be thankful I'm alive! xo
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post; I've read all the comments and it's so nice to see people focusing on what they like about themselves. You're right it makes a welcome change!
ReplyDeleteI tend to get flattering comments about my lips and boobs, but my favourite part of me (it's a bit strange) is the arch of my back - it's really pronounced and I have crazy straight posture - I also like that no one else really gets to see it apart from me and hubby.
My name is eve and I like my smile, the freckles on my shoulders and my pretty impressive rack. I'd like to thank my mum for the big boobs genes :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post Kellie x
I love my calves, they're strong and lean.I love my bum,I love my c-section scar because without it neither my son nor I would be here today; I love my hands, my long fingers, I love my eyes, I love my eyebrows. And I love my hair when I give it the attention it deserves. I really do love me x
ReplyDeleteI love my wrinkles round my eyes. My children make me laugh. A lot. The wrinkles are testament to that.
ReplyDeleteI love my baby ribbons on my belly. I'm a mummy tiger and I earned those stripes!
I love my bum and that a pair of heels makes it wiggle and reminds my husband what first caught his eye!
I love my skin, cos despite baby/hormonal issues, I knew that Twitter had delivered a guru to me (Caroline Hirons!) who would save it.
I like my eyebrows. I can raise them independently of one another and silence people with a look!
