Life Lessons I have Learnt From Candy Crush

I think by now we all know what Candy Crush is. A highly addictive game that can suck hours from your day and gives you NOTHING in return, absolutely nothing.

I was a Candy Crush addict, and I had shame.

But then I stopped seeing it as a game, and truly began to see what the developers of Candy Crush were really trying to show us.

Candy Crush isn't just a pointless game, it is a manual for life, and without even realising it, we are learning valuable lessons as we play. (Stay with me here)

Firstly, it starts off easy. There is no point in making it too hard, otherwise we would all give up too soon.

As we travel through and things get a little harder, we may need to lean on our friends for some support. When we feel we have no life or we have run out of options, turn to a friend and ask them for help, you will sometimes be surprised at the people who are there for you offering you a new lease of life, and sometimes people will let you down and not be there when you need them the most.

Sometimes there are obstacles put in our way. Some you can go round, some you can go through, but there are no obstacles that you cannot overcome if you put your mind to it.

There will be a sense of satisfaction at achieving your goals, and however small we should be proud of our achievements.

There will be bombshells, sometimes when you least expect them. but they won't keep you down for long.  You will pick yourself up, dust yourself off and carry on.

There will be chocolate, and a little chocolate is okay. But too much chocolate is bad for you.

It gets harder the longer it goes on for, and occasionally when you think that you cannot carry on, you need to take a while just to look back and see how far you have come, and then you will be okay.

SEE? Is this just a game? I don't think so.

Candy Crush should be taught in SCHOOLS! I should be able to get a degree in it. In fact, screw school entirely. Candy Crush is all the life lessons we will ever need, don't you agree?

Now can someone send me some lives please, I'm all out.

So what do you think? Is Candy Crush more than just a game? Have YOU learnt anything from Candy Crush?

Let me know.

  1. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant :) Jude x @jadlgw

  2. Honestly, I played it for a week or two.

It starts off easy. What it then does is not get harder, but rather presents you with fewer and fewer opportunities to win. So you play but 9 times out of 10 there is no solution to the puzzle - it's just not a 'do-able' board. But one time in 10 or 50 or 100 (depending how far you get) you do win - and the achievement and thrill you feel at that moment is what makes the game addictive.

I think once I clocked that I realised it's not a puzzle at all. Because it relies on luck, not skill. So to all intents and purposes, it's gambling. And as people get hooked, it's incredibly tempting to spend just a little money, then a little more, and a little more.

    I uninstalled it.

  3. Yep! And sometimes if you cheat and pay your way through you can get pretty far!

  4. Brilliant analogy!

You lady are an extremely intelligent and witty person :)

  5. I played it for a while until I got stuck then almost paid actual real money to get further so I uninstalled it too. I got sucked into a lot of stupid games on fb before - used to spend hours on Castleville, Ghosts of Mistwood - it's all fun & games (literally) until you get seriously stuck & are encouraged to spend real money. Kinda is like life, isn't it? It's all bright colours & chocolate until you run out of money. Or chocolate.

  6. I am close to deleting purely for the reasons above!! I need CC rehab

  7. I'm on level 161.
I'm refusing to give up as I've come so far.
My children have had late dinners and my husband and I spoken to for over a month!
If a quit now it would feel like it was all for nothing!

But if anyone would like to send me extra moves, that would be great!

  8. I have never played or heard of Candy Crush. This concerns me. I'm not that old, am I? ...

  9. I'm currently waiting for my lives to replenish so I can try and get past level 97 which I've been stuck on for AAAAAAAGES. What a great post. You know you are a Candy Crush addict when you dream of being smothered by chocolate. Had contemplated going cold turkey on the "game" but seeing as it's a life lesson.....

  10. I'm only on level 29 (stuck), and i can't even contemplate how long you must have been playing to get so high! Am considering deleting it as well because it's getting out of hand haha! Great post x x x

  11. Brilliant ;)
    Stuck on 30 here

  12. Genius! I have a love-hate relationship with Candy Crush. I swear a lot ordinarily, but never more so than when I'm playing that bitch. And the music? MY EARS. *mutes* Gahhhhhhh. x x

  13. I learnt my biggest life lesson from you and others. Don't play Candy Crush.

  14. I'm on leval 105 it is hard, and i so get your point x
