Firstly let me say I do not condone the threats of rape and violence I have seen against women over these last few weeks. Nor do I condone the threats against men. In fact a LOT of people need to take a good, hard look at themselves and decide whether they should remove themselves from the Internet for good.
And that there is my point. I am not taking part in the #Twittersilence as even for one day I do not see why MY voice should be silenced. Why should I let people who spread hate and fear be able to roam the Internet unchecked? Should all the people who use Twitter for good purposes just leave it to the people who wish to cause harm to others?
I don't think so.
So I will be tweeting love, about who inspires me and possibly about the next Doctor Who.
If you are taking part in the #TwitterSilence Good on you, you are doing what you feel is right and I support you in that. Please support me in my choice to #ShoutTheFuckBack
Have a lovely day, whatever you do.

Well said!!!
ReplyDeleteExactly! i said on twitter we need more voices we need people to speak out and share their experiences we have enough silence already
ReplyDeleteThe silence is a protest against Twitter's reaction to rape threats etc, not a silent response to those doing the threatening.
ReplyDeleteHear hear!!

ReplyDeleteYup agree wholeheartedly
ReplyDeleteVery well said. I didn't really understand the idea behind the Twitter silence, it seemed to be giving them what they wanted to me.
