We all have one, the gift that, as a child, you REALLY hoped you would receive. You wanted it so badly that nothing else mattered.
And then you didn't get it.
Oh the pain.
Now I'm sure, that over the years, that pain has faded down to a dull ache, but occasionally you remember that gift that you never got, and wonder if your life would have been better if you had got it.
For Claire, from http://ninjakillercat.co.uk it was a Mr Frosty Maker.
For @LadyTubeDriver it was a cabbage patch doll.
For me, it was a puppy, not a real one let me add, just one that did backwards somersaults and barked and moved.
But how about you?
What is the Christmas gift that you desperately wanted and never got?
Let me know.

ReplyDeleteI had a greengrocers stall. It was huge, had plastic fruit and a till and everything. I think you should buy yourself a post office and play with it. Reignite your inner child
DeleteI had a post office, I loved it! I always wanted mr frosty :(
DeleteWhen I was younger it was a transformer toy, now I keep asking for Bobbi Brown Make Up annual.
ReplyDeleteOooh which transformer? I was always jealous of my brothers Transformers wall paper
DeleteIt got the point I didn't care - the advert came on every Saturday morning, used to point and say I want one. Always got told it was a boys toy and I wasn't a boy. It was normally Optuimous Prime

ReplyDeleteNot Christmas...birthday. I was promised a horse. We (my Grandad, Mum and I) went to see it twice. I rode it (I was 11) Then came the bombshell: "Sorry, we're going abroad* for 2 weeks, so we can't afford your horse".
ReplyDeleteIf WTF (& my 1981 vocab) had existed, I would have had my mouth washed out!
Still want a horse!
*Our first trip abroad - Majorca. Had a lovely time, but...someone else was riding *my* horse. Mum knows I've never forgiven her!
A pony?!?!? Lisa you are making it very hard for me to feel sorry for you. ;-D

I wanted an Annie Doll as well * breaks down crying
ReplyDeleteAnd I never had a Simple Simon
ReplyDeleteClaire, I have a feeling you were on Santas naughty list!
DeleteErm. You're gonna hate me.
ReplyDeleteMy parents always got me what I wanted. I'm an only child and my mum and dad are wonderful people who I adore.
Don't get me wrong, I was not spoiled, as they taught me the value of money and made sure I was polite and well-mannered, but they got me the important things I wanted.
And yes, after a year of lessons, they got me a pony for my 11th birthday.
Thanks mum and dad. Love you lots x
I wanted a Sindy doll. I got a Tressy. That was worse than getting nothing at all
ReplyDeleteI wanted a real tv connected karaoke machine. I got a hifi with a mic
ReplyDeleteI wanted a Teddy Ruxpin so bad - sadly I never got one :(
ReplyDeleteSharon x
Roller boots. I wanted them so badly. This still hurts.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted a Furby!!....One of the old one's from years ago not the new fancy ones...lol
ReplyDeleteI am still gutted I never got a cabbage patch kid, when 2 girls accross the road had about 6 between them and only one would share!
ReplyDeleteI wanted a Furby really badly because they were everywhere - you couldn't turn on kids TV without seeing an ad for one. I made plenty of noise about it, always pointed it out. I wanted a pink one but would have settled for yellow. Christmas day came... and my sister got the Furby. I cried and stormed off to my room. Mum, if you're reading this - that was cruel.

ReplyDeleteI really wanted the Sindy house oh and a fashion wheel but sadly never had either of those!!
ReplyDeleteLoved Fashion Wheel! I'd forgotten about that! :-)
DeleteI always wanted a Mr Frosty too, had loads of other awesome gifts but never that one! Oh and I always wanted a Cadburys Minis Moneybox, never got one of those either!
ReplyDeleteI really wanted a Barbie and Ken dressed in ball outfits -on Christmas day I got the Ken (in his shiny pink tux) but Mum said she couldn't get the matching Barbie and got me a ballerina Sindy instead. How was he supposed to take her to the dance in her body suit and leg warmers?! (very spoilt I know!) ;-)
