First week weight loss with Slimming World

Don't worry, I won't bore you each week with my tales of weight loss, or gain.... (Oh god) but this week has been my first week at Slimming World and I wanted to share with you how much I have lost.

(Cough, brag)

My weight goes up and down like Yo-Yo, it always has done, I have successfully dieted, many, many times before but it always seems to creep back on. This time, I have put weight on because I am happy, (damn happiness, sticking to my backside like glue) Contented happiness eating is a bastard. (Unhappy eating is also a bastard but you know what I mean) Happy? Yep, have a biscuit.

What I want to do is not diet, just change the way I do things and find a way to eat that is sustainable and not a "diet"

And it must have worked because this week I lost SIX AND A HALF POUNDS.

Does a little dance, (exercise as well, go me)

So I go into my second week wanting to do well. What tips would you give me for the week ahead? I'm definitely already getting into the Slimming World state of mind but I haven't yet experienced the bumps in the road that I know are ahead. Still a long way to go in my weight loss so what do you find works for you?

Let me know.

  2. Well done!! That's an awesome loss for a first week! You'll be getting your half stone award for sure next week!

I joined Slimming World in January, with the intention of just getting the books and not going back. I was very cynical and thought I wouldn't like it. 3 months later I've lost a stone and actually really enjoy it! I'm almost at my target and I'm the smallest I've been in 3 or 4 years. It just doesn't feel like a 'diet' to me. Just changing the way I think about food and not depriving myself. The weekly weigh in also keeps me from straying too far. I need that incentive!

    Tips:
Use your syns! They're there to be used and you'll find what works for you after a few weeks. Whether that's saving them all for treats, or using them throughout the day, whatever works for you.
    Plan your meals. Vital!
Superfree foods really do aid weight loss! Make sure all meals include them.
    Drink lots of water!
Don't worry if you have a meal, day or even week that wasn't on plan - it happens! Just get back on plan as soon as you can - it's a long term thing, not a short term fix.
Make use of all the resources out there - phone app and website for checking syns and finding recipes, Instagram and blogs for inspiration, and if your group has a FB group, it's well worth joining. Our FB group is a 'secret' group so anything I post isn't shared with the rest of my non Slimming World friends.
I think that's it for now. Never thought I'd be so pro-slimming groups!

  3. Wow. That's amazing. Bravo!

I really struggled with Slimming World. The only advice I can give is steer clear of the little cheats that have no syns. SW likes those little cheats but they don't exactly form good eating habits. For example, there are some low and no syn pasta in mug sachets. Everyone would be better off just making their own pasta! (Although, I do like the convenience of pouring water on something and it turning into food....)

  7. Well done you! Great start.
My sister does SW, as does my mum, my advice that I've learnt from them is that is does slow down, make sure you vary your diet and allow yourself a treat every now and again. Don't punish yourself if you gain one week, just set a goal to work extra hard the next week. And see it as a lifestyle change rather than a short term thing. :)
