Why Do You Blog?

I have been blogging for over 5 years now and I don't know about you, but I genuinely cannot remember what I used to do before I wrote crap on the internet.

For me it is an outlet, and platform on which I can stand up high and shout from the rooftops, "whatttttt dooooooo you calllllllllll a collective noun for cooooccccccckkkkkkkk"

(Classy, thats me)

I love blogging, it has led to a huge amount of opportunities that I am extremely grateful for. I am lucky that my blog has gone from strength to strength and for some reason you guys come back each day and read my rantings and musings.

Sometimes you even leave me comments, which I LOVE. (hint, hint)

Blogging, for me, has always been a safe place, a place where I can share my thoughts, or say exactly how angry I am about something, I can write about how much I love a new dress or jacket or even share with you hot men on a Friday. Oh I do love to share hot men with you on a Friday.

Why do I blog?

Because I bloody love it.

Now tell me why YOU blog,

Or why you started blogging,

Or why you would like to blog,

Or why you stopped blogging.

I'm interested in what makes bloggers start and then continue on this road that we travel.

What is in it for you?

Let me know.

  1. I blog because I have found it cathartic. For some, that is perhaps cliché but it truly works for me...at least sometimes. For the last 9 years I've been dealing with an as yet undiagnosed pain condition, and over the last 18 months the mental toll of this has come to the fore. Starting the blog helped me to prove that I can still write and, most importantly, flushed some of my negative thoughts. Right now, I'm suffering from a mutation of writer's block also known as shyness; before I didn't care who judged what I had written, but now I do. It's like the original idea has come a full and vicious circle to bite me firmly on the ass.

  2. I used to vlog on YouTube, which was great until YouTube started messing around with their channel and also people I knew started getting hated on in a big way and there was a lot of bitching between YouTube vloggers. I lost heart in it very quickly once my mother passed away and I was in a really low place. Having to sort funeral stuff out and look after my Dad, the place I used to be able to go to ( YouTube) and vent my frustrations and feelings did not hold any appeal for me any more. It was then I decided to give blogging another go. I had previously tried it years ago, so I restarted again, this time on Wordpress ( with the help of Marc from marccorn.co.uk). I got my blog set up and moved stuff over from my old blog and here I am now. Still here over a year later. My blogs not the most successful out there by any stretch of the imagination, but its my blog. A place I can say what I like on. Apart from Marc, who I knew from the YouTube days, I have not met any fellow bloggers yet, but I hope to one day. Admittedly its not the most viewed blog in the world either, but then again neither was my YouTube channel.
I love my blog as its an outlet for me. Also I can see what other my blogger friends are or have been doing. Like being invited to look through a small window into their lives. It also gives me a chance to record my life. There are still plans to do back dated stuff about when I was younger as well.

  3. It started from solid fucking boredom and a need to comment on everything in my own space where no-one can tell me to shut up, because it's MY BLOG! I need to write. When I'm not blogging, I'm writing in a notebook. Love writing, need writing, writing rules. End!

  4. I got into blogging after I finished studying and felt a bit at a loose end. I have a disability that means I'm at home quite a lot so it stops me from going stir crazy, oh and I love it. I love the interaction and the wealth of different people you "meet". x

  5. I started blogging not long after I started going out with my pc-gaming obsessed fella. At first I used up the time we could've/should've been going out doing shit spending lots of money on eBay, and then I took up a blog at the suggestion of my beloved, who probably wanted to assuage his guilt. I blogged on Blogger years ago, then MySpace for a few years, then came back to Blogger in 2009. I've been through 3 name changes since 2009, changing the focus of my blog around to plus size fashion in 2012. No regrets. x x

  6. It was a way to be able to express myself at a time when what I was doing was very structured and left little room for 'me'. It was nice to have an audience and talk about life / toddlers/ stresses etc. 4 years on, writing is just a part of who I am!
