Nom or Vom

Yet another Nom or Vom for you to "feast" your eyes upon. This one is more mature than the previous ones and has somewhat of a reputation as a ladykiller.

His previous conquests state that at least he never spent too much time in front of the mirror, but he is definitely not one to have any sympathy when you are on your period. (Please insert your own smutty joke here)

Pinterest is ruining my life

That might seem like a bold statement but listen up people.

STOP IT with the perfect pumpkins. While I am struggling with getting square teeth, some people out there are carving a representation of Mona Lisa into pumpkins, creating miniature pieces of orange art and putting WORDS on pumpkins!!!

I'm still struggling with making the eyes even and I'm faced with people sharing their pumpkins with faces IN?

I cannot compete.

I refuse to compete.

What happened to pumpkins that were awful? When did pumpkin art become a THING?

Stop looking at Pinterest and watching YouTube tutorials on how to carve the perfect pumpkin.

What is wrong with a misshapen pumpkin that is only scary because of how awful it is carved?

I miss retro pumpkins.it isn't a sodding competition.

BRING BACK BORING PUMPKINS I SAY.

Purely because I can't carve good ones.

Pssssst, anyone got a link to a good pumpkin carving site?

What do you think? Has pumpkin art gone too far? Or do you enjoy getting creative?

Organising my life with a Filofax

I cannot stand here and look you all in the eyes and say that I am the most organised person in the world. I'm not.

I'm not even the second, or third.... Oh sod it, MY NAME IS KELLIE AND I AM AN UNORGANISED PERSON.

I am the person scrambling around on the morning of an event because I forgot,  I am the person sending my children into school in school uniform because I forgot it was a non-uniform day. I am not organised.

Until now.

The very lovely people at Viking Direct very kindly have sent me out a beautiful Filofax to help me get organised.

Look at it, isn't it all shiny and beautiful?

Glossy.

With this Filofax I FULLY intend to get my life organised. I want to have a section for blogging, a section for children and a section for work. This Filofax is going to SAVE me from disorganisation and help me become a better person.

I have lined paper in it. That can only be a good thing, right? I can scribble my musings in it, scribble down telephone numbers and draw little pictures when I am on a call.

I have sections marked 1,2,3,4,5,6

That is six sections that I can fill with six different things, and I can buy MORE inserts, because that is what Filofax's are for. Filling with stuff to make me organised.

My Filofax came from Viking Direct, you too can be as organised as me by going to http://www.viking-direct.co.uk and looking for a brand new organisational took such as a Filofax.

Mine is going to definitely help me become a LOT more organised.

When I remember where I bloody well put it!!!!!!!!!

Food Pets, Bob and Me

I am the proud owner of an 8yr old small person. (Well, I say owner, I think it is the other way around really, I'm definite that she thinks I am "staff")

8yr olds are funny, they can come out with the most amusing statements and then in their next breath, refuse to wear clothes and decide to hack off their own hair with a blunt knife.

Such fun.

MY 8 year old, currently is obsessed with food pets. Now, I'm not talking about sticking a face on a tin of beans and talking to it occasionally, it runs MUCH deeper than that.

First there was Bob the pumpkin. A couple of years ago she developed an attachment to a pumpkin that had been carved with a face and decided that he was her friend.

Cue MUCH, MUCH screaming when Bob started to smell a bit and well, rot. This is when the teenage child decided to chip in and say that no-one threw away her brother and he smells. Cue more screaming. (this may have been me)

There was also an attempt by the 8yr old to run away with Bob to save his life. This was a short attempt that only lasted as long as it took to realise that I wasn't running away with them and she would have to carry Bob herself. (It is the thought that counts, right?)

See ya Bob.

One binned food pet and no more was ever said about it.

Until this October when I purchased a Watermelon. Small child has grown a bit, she is also a little more wily. I didn't think anything about the watermelon for a day or two until I decided we should eat it for dessert one evening.

No Watermelon was to be found.

but there was one SHIFTY looking 8 yr old.

"Where is the watermelon, S?"

"You mean Bob?'

FUCK.

"It is our dessert"

"It is my friend"

FUCK

"Where is it?"

"Watching TV in my room, Why?"

FUCK

"Can you bring him..... I mean, it, down here please"

"No"

Two days passed. Bob even came to parent evening with us. (In a buggy) The teenagers began to prowl around Bob, I mean the watermelon, with the look of hungry coyotes eyeing up a steak. These are the teenagers that usually think that fruit should only be served in juice form or as a topping on a pizza, and now they are discussing how watermelon is a vital source of vitamins and an essential part of their 5 a day.

The 8 yr old had an emergency bag by the front door and kept threatening the teenagers with harm to their favourite things if they so much as breathed in Bob's direction.

FUN TIMES.

And then, it is with sorrow that I have to report on the demise of Bob. He was left in the kitchen for more than ten minutes unsupervised, the kitchen with all the sharp knives, and where teenagers come to feed after dark.

One of the teens cracked and gently slid a knife into Bob, they stopped, because the guilt got too much, but by then it was too late.

Ever told an 8yr old that you cannot stitch up a watermelon? Or use bandages?

Oh I have. and it is NOT FUN.

although she did agree that cutting up Bob and sharing him is what he would have wanted us to do.

After we gave him the face he had always needed, OBVIOUSLY.

I swore there and then that there would be no more food pets.

NOT ONE.

And then Halloween rolled round.

Meet Bob.

This is going to get messy isn't it?

Help me.

Any advice?

Let me know.

I'm all about the socks, no trouble

The one thing that I didn’t realize, moving from London to Yorkshire, is that I would enjoy walking quite as much as I do.

In the year that I have been here, I am proud to say that I have already worn out one pair of walking boots and the second pair are starting to feel a little sorry for themselves. What can I say, when I walk, I like to WALK. I have a thing for ruins and Yorkshire seems to be full of Abbeys that are not quite in their original condition. Fountain Abbey, Kirkstall Abbey, Bolton Abbey. All fabulous places set in beautiful countryside that you can just walk for ages. Malham Cove is also a favourite place of mine to visit with spectacular views.

The one thing I learnt, FAST, is that you can have the best boots with the most waterproof of waterproofing but if you are wearing the wrong socks then, you aren’t going to be seeing the beautiful scenery, instead you are going to be crying on a tree stump somewhere, saying that you cannot walk another step and frightened that when you take off your boots they are going to be filled with blood. Yes, I’m a Drama Queen, no, my boots were not filled with blood.  (although it felt like it)

Trainer socks with hiking boots,

ROOKIE ERROR.

You NEED thick socks, (May I also recommend that when you buy your boots, you take with you a pair of thick socks to try on with the boots to make sure they fit correctly. The boots, not the socks)

A great place that you can buy socks is Tesco Direct!!!  I know, it seems strange choosing your walking socks online but I find you get a wider choice, plus I love buying things from the comfort of my own home.

High quality, WARM, and best of all, no boots full of blood. Everyone is a winner.
If you enjoy walking, check out Tesco Direct here -> Walking socks for their lovely warm socks. They do children's ones too, let me know what you think.

And if you have any Yorkshire walking recommendations, leave me a comment below.

It's beginning to look a lot like a Lush Christmas

There are certain things in the UK that signal Christmas is coming.

Red Starbucks cups, X Factor on the TV and SNOW FAIRY in Lush.

These are now the Holy Trinity of christmas for me and once all three things are freely available, Christmas may begin.

The Lush Spa in Leeds, (which is fabulous by the way, I highly recommend visiting a Lush Spa, my review of the Sound Bath treatment is here. http://www.bigfashionista.co.uk/2013/10/lush-spa-sound-bath-review.html ) held their christmas event on Wednesday night to give us a sneak peek at what they have to offer to make christmas special.

Oh and it will be special alright.

One small point I must make, even though the store was closed to the public for this event, they did keep the tills open and you have never seen so many bloggers putting their hands in their pockets and PURCHASING products they were shown.

That to me says it all.

Personally I purchased a Northern Lights bath bomb stick, which will do THIS to my bath.

I also purchased my beloved H'Suan Wen Hua and some Yog Nog soap.

Now for the picture heavy part.

Everything that I've shown you is available in store, NOW. We will have none of this, Oh do you love it? well you will have to wait another three months to get it.

I loved getting to see all the christmas products and I will be bringing you some more in-depth reviews of the things that I purchased and other christmas products I am YET to purchase.

I'm off to roll in Snow Fairy and sit patiently outside Starbucks.

Are you a Lush Fan? What is your fave Xmas product? Did you catch a peak of the Advent Calendar above? I want one, don't you?

Chloe Hamilton, Zoella and Role Models

Before Tuesday, had you ever heard of Chloe Hamilton? Of course you hadn't, unless you were a real life friend or family member of Ms Hamiton, or perhaps had a conversation with her on Twitter, chances are she could pass you on the street or instagram her breakfast and no-one would bat an eyelid.

Then on Tuesday, Ms Hamilton decided to write an article for The Independent about how teenage girls need role models, but not role models like Zoella. She then proceeded in picking apart Zoella's looks, her attitude, and her "sickly sweet girl power" like a woman who has studied at the Samantha Brick school of journalism.

Now I DO NOT believe that women should support other women and stand up for them JUST because they are women. But what I do believe is that we should not TEAR DOWN another woman just because you have found a way to be controversial and drive traffic to your site.

and if anyone was in any doubt that the reason Chloe Hamilton wrote about Zoella in such a disparaging way was to court controversy and drive traffic to her column, may I point out this tweet.

With this in mind, I am not going to link to the article that Chloe Hamilton has written. She has all the traffic that she is going to get from me and I am sure that people will say that the best thing to do in a case like this, is just ignore her and that I am further pandering to her by even writing this article myself.

But I don't believe in ignoring something that is wrong, and Chloe Hamilton is wrong. I wonder how many teenage girls she spoke to about Zoella or how many videos of Zoe she actually watched before she decided that she "rabbits on" about hair and make up.

Chloe Hamilton talks about how someone in Zoe's position could MAKE a difference to teen girls. FORGETTING that she herself is in a position where young women who may want to become journalists have looked at HER and watched her TEAR APART a real life person just to get the hits.

IS THAT A ROLE MODEL?

I am want to pass this one over to you, I really want your opinions on the whole situation. I am even going to turn back on the facility to comment anonymously, (because I haven't been called a cu*t in so long, and I kind of miss it *sarcasm)

I want the final words to come from Chloe Hamilton herself, taken from an earlier article she had written about becoming a girl for the day. This was her closing argument. Perhaps she needs to read it again.

Let me know your thoughts.

NHS, Hot beverages and slacking off

I read a lot of crap, I do. I use the excuse that I need to be up to date with what is going on in the world to read the crap, but I read a lot of useless, and sometimes quite strange stuff.

I have realised that my hatred of people increases, the more I read the news.

and then today, I read this.

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/nhs-hospital-staff-banned-from-drinking-tea-or-coffee-on-the-job-because-it-looks-like-theyre-not-working-hard-enough-9806903.html

This is an article in The Independent about hospital staff in Leicester being banned from drinking tea and coffee in public places because it makes people think that they are "slacking off"

REALLY?

I really don't think that seeing a member of the NHS front line drinking a cup of coffee is EVER going to make me think that they are slacking off. In fact, if I saw a nurse drinking a cup of coffee in a public place, my first impression would be that they have worked through a break and are grabbing a drink on the go.

If you write down a list of professions that slack, would you put a Doctor or nurse on that list at all?
and yes, I do respect that everyone has a tale of a member of the NHS who has been caught slacking. In any profession there is always one or two, but to stop staff grabbing a hot drink in three hospitals in Leicester is, in my opinion, just another way of trying to get people to lose faith in the NHS.

I would love your opinion on this,

Let me know your thoughts.

Loose Women, Judy Finnigan and Rape

I have to admit that I am not a fan of the programme Loose Woman but it seems that yesterday they managed to create a huge stir, or rather Judy Finnigan did, during a segment about CONVICTED RAPIST, Ched Evans.

The segment, which I have now watched, was a discussion about whether Ched Evans should be able to go back to being a footballer after serving his time. (Well, 2 years of his time anyway, but that is a WHOLE other post)

Judy Finnigan when asked, made the point that "He had served his time" as well as going further with the following comments.

"The rape and I am not, please, by any means minimising any kind of rape - but the rape was not violent. He didn't cause any bodily harm to the person"

I'm going to jump in here and say, actually Judy, what you are exactly doing here IS minimising rape. You are categorising rape, you are trivialising rape and you are WRONG. There is not differing kinds of rape, rape is rape.

She also then went on to say. "It was unpleasant, in a hotel room, I believe, and she was - she had far too much to drink, and you know, that is reprehensible, but he has been convicted and he has served his time.

Arrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Seriously?

Let's throw in some victim blaming while we are at it. So it was a non violent rape and the victim had been drinking?

(I'm surprised no-one discussed a full pardon or back pay for him)

I understand now that Judy Finnigan has apologised for what she said, but it absolutely DISGUSTS me that it was even said in the first place.

How in 2014 can ANYONE still feel this way?

Whether violence played a part in a rape is IRRELEVANT.
Whether alcohol had been consumed is IRRELEVANT.

THE ONLY THING THAT IS RELEVANT IS CONSENT.

NO CONSENT,  THAT IS RAPE.

Judy Finnigan. YOU ARE AN IDIOT. NOT ONLY FOR SAYING IT, BUT FOR EVEN THINKING IT.

I am so angry with you.

It has also diverted away from the point originally made on Loose Women about whether Ched Evans should be able to go back to his role as a professional footballer when he gets out.

I would like to hear YOUR views on the subjects, both on Judy's comments and whether Ched Evans should be able to go back to football.

Layering with Fashion World

Autumn is always a difficult one for me.

I don't want to stop wearing my summer clothes JUST yet, but I am turning a funny shade of blue as the temperature begins to drop and APPARENTLY it is not socially acceptable for me to hibernate. (RUDE)

So what do I do? I begin to layer up. So far this autumn, apart from a few days that have made me want to rethink the whole hibernation rule, I have been able to add tights to dresses and throw on a cardigan.

I am a lover of cardigans, (partly because of the "I hate my arms" thing and partly because cardigans are just so snuggly) and I always find in the Autumn that cardigans and wraps are my equivalent of a duvet coat, (which is still not a "thing" unfortunately)

The great thing about layering with cardigans is that you can find every type of cardigan from something oversized and fluffy to something delicate and formal. Being a fan of the 50's style dresses I have fallen in love with THIS cardigan,

which is by Voodoo Vixen and available from Fashion World, here. Voodoo Vixen Retro Kitty
this is a fab cardigan that I could wear to an event over one of my summer dresses. (Yes, I am going to buy it, I'm selling it to myself here)

Another smart way to layer is with this Joanna Hope Faux Fur trim Cardigan, available here Joanna Hope

This has a smart casual feel to it, warm and stylish. WIN.

Another favourite of mine has to be the cape. It is the socially acceptable way to walk around in a blanket, and this is a stylish blanket. (Yes, I want it) This Diamante knitted cape also by Joanna Hope is available here Joanna Hope knitted cape

If you throw in a hat, a scarf and some thermal underwear while you are at it, I think we can make it through Autumn easily. For me, layering is the way to go and I prefer to wear more layers in the autumn as the season changes (avoids using the words seasonal transition)

Next stop, Winter and ALLLLLLLLLL the knitwear.

If you want to have a browse of Fashion Worlds knitwear, you can find more here.

FASHION WORLD KNITWEAR

How do you wear Autumn? Are you a fan of layering or are you more of a hibernation person too?

Positive Monday

I have mentioned before that I LOVE Mondays,  ----- > Monday Monday and I DO.

(Mondays is when the little darlings go back to school)

but I GET that Monday is not exactly a fresh start for everyone, and for some of you. Monday is the worst buzz kill ever.

So we are going to be so positive that we positively ooze positivity, we are going to be so positively positively positive, we will piss positivity and fart rainbow coloured glitter ( I really want to be able to do that, I think it would be awesome)

I want everyone to comment, (I know that for some of you, this is unknown territory, but it is ok, it won't hurt, I promise.) and tell me ONE THING that is going to be amazing today. I don't mind if it what you are having for dinner, something you are planning on doing or booking, but let us start today off right.

I will even start.

Monday is going to be great because I have a new client starting today and I am looking forward to working with them.

How about you?

Share with me something positive, in fact share it with everyone. I love seeing people being positive and happy and if one person shares some positivity, hopefully it will spread and we can all have a great day.

What do you think?

What is going to be positive in your Monday?

Let me know.
