BURN THE INTERNET TO THE GROUND

You know when you see something on Facebook that makes you want to burn the whole internet down?

THIS.

Just THIS.

I don't know whether the person who created this, actually believes in their own bullshit, but this should NOT exist.

It implies that women with stretch marks didn't take care of themselves during pregnancy.

Like pregnant women don't have enough guilt thrown at them during the time they are creating NEW LIFE? Pick up a glass of anything containing alcohol and you will have people judging you as if you are reaching up inside your own vagina and strangling your unborn child. Eye up certain foods with longing and you are a DESTROYER OF LIFE. Wear heels, don't wear heels, announce you will be breastfeeding, announce you will not be breastfeeding, there will ALWAYS BE SOMEONE THERE TO JUDGE YOU, but to announce that not only did you do something WRONG, but you know what? That body you used to create new life? HIDE IT. HIDE IT AWAY LIKE A SHAMEFUL secret.

Helllllllllllllllll no.

I have stretch marks, some people call them tiger stripes, personally I prefer to call them stretch marks, I moisturised, I massaged, I have LOTS OF THEM, I had two children in less than a year, I put on weight, I lose weight, even my stretch marks have stretch marks now.

Should I have the "common decency to cover my shame"?

The person who created the piece of crap and shared it on Facebook should've had the common decency not to create this body shaming piece of crap. Whether I choose to flaunt my time ravaged body is nobody's business but my own.

I'm more offended seeing the above piece of crap being shared than I would be seeing stretch marks.

How about you?

Let me know.

  2. What a crock of shit? I swear, woman get everything thrown at them. Why be ashamed for creating new life. Pah! This has made me hella angry.

  5. That is disgusting!!!!!!

Luckily I've never seen anything like it anywhere, so well done for spreading it around so more people can see it. It's terribly done so it's probably some idiot misogynist teenager in his room, judging women and making shit awful graphics for the internet. Imagine if no one saw it?!?? No one would know idiots like this were around and their stupid messages would be like farts on the wind. So great work passing this on!

    Still fuming.

    1. Hang on, you are blaming me for writing about it, therefore sharing it? Bit late for that when it is already doing the rounds on Facebook. I would rather talk about it, and stand up and say it is wrong, than have some women who read it and believe it to be true because nobody is challenging it.

    2. Noooooo! Like I said, these little shits would just carry on getting away with creating this bullshit if eagle eyed people didn't call them out on it when they discover it.

      Great find.

      Sorry about that. :D

  6. My skinny teenage son has prominent stretchmarks on his back from where he grew too quickly for his skin. They are fading now, but there is nothing he could have done to 'take proper care' to have prevented this from happening, except perhaps to have planned ahead and chosen a different father, who also has faded stretchmarks from when he grew too quickly. It's genetic, It happens to some people, whether male or female.

I noticed that the image was watermarked 'Disciples of the New Dawn' and looked them up on Google - oh MY! You need to see what they think of women who have had C-sections - you will LOVE that one!

I don't know whether these people have genuinely-held beliefs, or whether they are on a super-trolling mission to wind up as many people as possible. Whoever they are, it is clear they are odious, unpleasant people who are abusing the gift of communication via the internet. May they be cursed with extremely slow internet speeds, no wi-fi signals when out & about, and permanent, unfixable software & hardware errors on all their devices.

  7. I love this site!

It has to be the best parody site on the internet.

Last week "Sharing is not caring" telling us not to link or share stuff without thinking what spreading it will do.....

And then this post about something that people only see because you posted it here.

    Brilliantly subtle! Keep it up!

So what will spreading this picture, whilst at the same time as telling people that other people do NOT agree with it, do?

And thank you for assuming that I am first with everything on the Internet, I assure you. I'm not.

Plus, you know, whilst you are always welcome here, you don't HAVE TO read my site if you don't want to.

      Hugs

  8. Ok. Should have looked at Snopes first - the intention is, it seems, satirical: http://www.snopes.com/politics/satire/facebookdisciples.asp

    1. Unfortunately, i saw it posted individually of that group. It may be a "satirical group" but there will always be people who take the pictures and share them around as if they are real. Dangerous, huh?

    2. Absolutely. I do appreciate satire very much, and enjoy many a News Thump article - although there are times when they take it a little far.

However, you're right Kellie - these images taken out of context do NOT send a satirical message at all, and it doesn't take much to find plenty of people out there in internetland who genuinely hold these beliefs, who will share such pictures, agreeing with their message.

    3. Internetland. It's a dark, dark place.

  9. Oh dear.

First you RAGE about the picture doing the rounds when you are a primary cause of it doing the rounds.

Then you get busted for not doing ANY research into the creation of the picture and it turns out to be a satirical piss take designed to outrage people who don't check their facts. And you fall for it hook line and sinker.

Then you decide that, having been shown up for getting all wound up and falling for it, that you will still declare it is "DANGEROUS HUH?" Clutching at the last remaining dignity straws, huh?

Genius! Hypocritical genius! Can't stop laughing here!

    1. So glad that you think that my site is so groundbreaking that I am the one person who can make people see things.

Don't think I was "busted" it was doing the rounds on Facebook, independent of the Disciples Of The Dawn page.

And why on earth would I feel shown up? I learn new things every day? i don't think that I am so superior to others that I cannot learn.

      "Last remaining dignity straws"

      You talk about dignity?

      Bless you.

      Have a lovely day.

    2. Anonymous - could I just step in, in support of Kellie - my intention in posting the link to Snopes wasn't at all to say 'nah nah, it's only satirical' - it was a follow-on from my previous post. I found out for myself that it's original intention was, apparently, satirical, but still remained unimpressed with the 'joke'.

Satire requires a good amount of intelligence, and good satirists are careful to make sure their intentions absolutely clear and not taken out of context. These images can be easily taken out of context, as the 'Disciples of the New Dawn' name is not 'out there' enough to be known for its satirical intentions.

It should be plainly obvious that something is intended to satirise - the stretchmarks picture is not obviously satirical - it's aim is to shock first and then say 'only joking...' once you have dug deeply enough to discover the intention. If you have to work so hard to get the joke, then it clearly isn't good enough.

    3. Thanks Anna, plus I think that anon is deliberately missing one of my lines which said, "I don't know whether the person who created this believes their bullshit, but it shouldn't exist"

    4. Tell Christopher Morris that Anna. The duty is upon those that recount the story to check the facts.

  10. This is horrible. It's so difficult to get used to a post baby body, especially when it looks like a stretch marked mess. Pictures like this make it soooo much easier :/

  11. You said previously that you don't censor comments, but you said on Twitter that we should see the anon comments that you haven't approved. Come on Kellie. Which is it?

Post all the comments and let us see the foolishness for ourselves.

    1. Hmmmmmm, publish the anon comments calling me a fat cunt that make no attempt to give an opinion on the post?

      Nope, you're alright thanks.

  12. Is it nasty? Yes. Is it a load of rubbish? Yes. Should it just be ignored? In my opinion, yes. Does it warrant huge outrage? Not in my opinion. Tbh, there are worse things in life. Burn down the Internet? Sorry, I think that's an over reaction. I'm not a fan of outrage for outrage's sake and I fear this is veering into that territory.

    1. And you are entitled to your opinion, as I am mine.

(you do know I'm not really going to burn down the Internet, right?)

      Hides matches.

    2. Outrage for outrage's sake is a common theme here. Even when it's pointed out that there is hypocrisy and lack of thinking applied to subjects, that just creates more faux outrage as Kellie immediately accuses all dissenters of calling her names and being nasty, instead of actually considering if they have a point. I saw one lady on twitter suggest a previous post could be seen as hypocritical and Kellie said "Sorry you think I'm a bully", which was not what was suggested.

Previous post was about not sharing dodgy photos. Kellie shared a dodgy photo. Still tries to defend that as not being hypocritical even though the original photo has been shown to be fake!

The comment sections of recent posts are the only reason to come here! And often the only sense being talked is by my fellow Anon's.

And, yes, I know Kellie censors comments and doesn't publish them all. I know she claims to not put up the ones with foul language but I think that is an out and out lie. I have had comments not published before that have been perfectly polite and reasonable. They happened to not agree with her. I think she hides those that she can't defeat with shouting.

I mean, it isn't as though Kellie is not familiar with "industrial" language now, is it? She can spew filth but censors anyone she chooses on the grounds of distasteful words and sentiment?

      Delete
    3. I do not censor comments that raise a point about a post. Not everyone has to agree with me. That is the great thing about this world.

However, calling me a liar is ridiculous. I ALWAYS PUBLISH comments that are to do with the post. What I will not publish is insults purely for the sake of it that have nothing to do with the post. Perhaps it was an insult that you posted that I didn't publish?

      You don't like my language?

You know you don't have to read what I write, right?

    4. See, I gave my opinion reasonably without resorting to name calling and Kellie replied in the same vein. We may not agree but hey we're grown ups, that's ok and a part of debate. Personally I think having to resort to name calling detracts from ones argument somewhat. Hey ho.

      Delete
    5. Most definitely. I COMPLETELY respect what you say, I actually get what you mean. Gives me food for thought. Perhaps I should save my dramatics for things that need it.

No name calling here at all. Debating like grown ups. Xx

  14. I am so confused here!! I thought it was in your opinion wrong to share things on facebook etc as you don't know all the facts behind the pic etc. So why share this with everyone?
Surely by sharing such pics you are playing into the creators hands? When people post negative nasty images etc they want it to be shared all over the Internet for maximum impact.
Can you explain to me your reasoning for sharing this particular image but not others? What makes this sharable but other things not?
    No nastiness, just asking.

    1. Hi Anon, don't worry, I understand there is no nastiness to your question. I think you are referring to my Sharing Is Not Caring post? Am I right? My point with that, was to do with the man in Melbourne accused of being a creep and possible pedophile. People share these pictures that have an effect on other people, without knowing the full story, or share CCTV pics saying, this person burgled my shed, I think this needs to stop.

I understand what you are saying about by sharing the picture am I not playing into the hands of people who want them shared to cause maximum impact, but I would rather talk about them, and say they are wrong, than have someone else see them without commentary, or worse, with someone commenting that this is ok. Maybe some people disagree with that approach, that's ok. But it is how I live my life. If I think something is wrong, I would rather say why I think it is wrong than leave it to float around the Internet unchecked.

Thank you for the comment, genuinely you didn't need to stay anon, I completely understand your viewpoint. Xxxx
