Does Nom or Vom stay or go? You decide.

Right, it is Friday, and as you may have noticed, there is no Nom or Vom.

Recently, I have had some criticism for Nom or Vom, where people have rightly raised the point, is there a place for Nom or Vom in a place where I preach about not judging people for their size.

I have heard this before, and I always try to take on board constructive criticism, Personally, I like Nom or Vom for one main reason. It shows me that everyone has different taste, not everyone likes the same sort of person and that we all find different things "attractive."

Some people have objected to the terms Nom or Vom, I understand that too. However I am not asking anyone to physically turn from their laptop and throw up in a bucket at the sight of a Nom or Vom, It is more a case of, No thanks, this one is not for me.

"Is Nom or Vom any different from Page 3?" some have asked, well personally I do not have a problem with Page 3, but again, that is only my opinion and people are more than willing to have a different view, (and I am sure some people will share it with me in the comments below.

So let us solve this issue by clicking a button on the poll. Should Nom or Vom stay or go?

YOU DECIDE.

  1. Probably missed a trick today by not making it the election poll that really matters. May have been voms all round for most of them, but would be interesting to see who got the most noms on the swingometer.. :)

  2. I think there's a line between good humoured chatter and bullying or negative image reinforcement. I think this is well inside the line.

  3. Whether it is on their attractiveness, body shape, intelligence, child raising... There will always be something that we judge other people on and the flip side of that is that somebody might be offended by it. Is it wrong to judge? I don't know but I'm quite sure that we all do it on some level. Personally, nom or vom is not for me. I'm not okay with objectifying men or women but that's just me. I just tend to skip your blog that day. No biggy. But I'm not sure that anyone else should get to decide its fate. Your blog your choice I say.

    1. I love this comment so hard. Thank you. Yes, I completely get that Nom or Vom isn't for everyone and I understand why some people don't like it, but this comment is my favourite comment ever because we have different opinions on something but you have put your name to it and not insulted me either :D

      Hugs you tight. Xxxxxxx

      Thank you xx

  4. I love Nom or Vom. I get the whole judgeing people slant though.

  5. I like nom and vom, but I think if we are against people being judged on their looks and objectified then possibly it is time for it to end.

    1. Xxx I like it too. As do most of the readers, it seems. I like how we all love different people and find different things attractive. To me, that is a good thing

  6. I kind of get it, but am also kind of baffled that anyone has a problem with it. You put up some pictures of men, ask people the simple question of nom or vom and leave it at that. You don't say 'look at this grotesque excuse for a human being, criticise away!'. Like you say, it's interesting to see the huge spectrum of what is attractive to some people and not others. I personally see no problem with it whatsoever (nor do I see a problem with Page 3, for the record).

I was about to say, 'it'd be cool if you featured women sometimes in nom or vom' because, although I primarily identify as heterosexual, I do enjoy a good nom over women (don't we all?!). But that would probably open a whole new can of worms. I don't know.

Nom or vom is a huge part of Big Fashionista and I would be sad to see it go!

  7. I'm not sure whether Nom/Vom equals to judging people on their looks. The one I wrote for example, which was on Eddie Izzard, was on why I find him attractive, or what makes him interesting to me. The pictures that went with the article did not objectify him, but actually showed him in a position of power. Which is what does happen with thing like page 3, where women are represented as objects, there to provide sexual pleasure/enjoyment to the male gaze. Those images follow a certain perspective that puts a woman in a position of subjugation.

Maybe some of the images on Nom/Vom come close to objectifying men, maybe some of the comments did see them as nothing but a sexual object...this could be argued.

I see Nom/Vom as "i find this guy attractive" vs "he's not my type", which should be a harmless every day conversation any person could/should have. I don't see body shaming/judging or objectification there. It's a fine line I guess.

  8. pah. I like it. I vote you keep it. Haters gonna hate whatever you do and it's your blog, your rules.

  9. Let me judge them! Who knows what I will like? I need to see to choose, let the dog see the rabbit!

  10. I don't have a problem with it, however I'm not sure how I'd feel if there was a photo of me on someone's blog, inviting people to judge me as 'nom or vom'. I've only just put myself in the shoes of the subject, as I've commented on it in the past.

All of the guys that appear are actual real people who are probably in possession of feelings. I know that I'd be pretty inexplicably hurt if a long list of people judged me a 'vom'. They don't even know me, how would I deserve to be labelled as 'vom' based on aesthetics alone?

Similarly, it would also be pretty creepy if a list of randomers judged me a 'nom' on the same grounds.

So yeh, maybe in light of your usual values, perhaps ditch it and take the highest moral ground! Good luck with your decision! X

  11. Seems like a good amount of people think it is hypocritical, or at least potentially. I don't understand how voting someone "Vom" is just fun. It's basically "the sight of this picture makes me vomit." It might not be factually accurate but that's the premise.

So seeing as plenty of people agree that there is the chance that Kellie has been hypocritical, it looks like the anon posters who were mocked and dismissed, were right all along. They said there was hypocrisy here and it seems that the readers agree. Who'd have thought that this would be the outcome? I didn't.

I hope they they accept the apology gracefully so we can just get on with each other.

    1. Bad luck, Anon. Survey says no. 72.73% of voters said keep it.

If you are waiting for an apology, you will be waiting a long time. I suggest that if you don't like what you see here. You don't visit.

NOM OR VOM IS HERE TO STAY.

  12. Seems I was wrong. Enough people recognise the hypocrisy but you STILL WONT TAKE THE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.

    1. 72.73% of people want to keep Nom or Vom.

Here is some constructive criticism for you.

If something is stressing you out as much as this obviously is, don't look at it. It is a Saturday afternoon, go and spend time with your family, friends or pets rather than hoping to get a reaction from me.

      Surround yourself with positivity.

      Enjoy your bank holiday weekend.

  13. I love Nom or Vom. It's not realistic to think that we will find every single person in the world attractive, it's a bit of fun to see what other people are or aren't attracted to. Just because I'm not attracted to someone it doesn't mean they aren't attractive. Please keep it!! x

  14. I don't do trivial fun really most of my blog reading and writing is serious. And I find Nom or Vom light hearted and interesting. The movie, music, modelling industry is built on objectification. These people put themselves out there to be judged on their looks, otherwise they would be accountants, lawyers, working in Tesco. I do hope you keep it as it's a bit of fun on a Friday

  15. I think if you're in the public spotlight people are going discuss whether they "would or not" regardless of medium. I've been tubecrush'ed and was very pleased about it.
