Clowning Around

"Clowns, because women need more things to be scared of when they walk home by themselves late at night"

So, what started in America, stares pointedly at America, is now apparently on our own doorstep. Nope, not Donald Trump, the OTHER CLOWNS.

Who the FUCK decided that it would be super fun to dress up as a clown and scare shit out of people?

You know what, I am NOT scared of clowns. What I am scared of, are people who think dressing up as a clown and walking around in the dark for the sole purpose of scaring people is a good idea.

YOU JUST KNOW that these people who are dressing up as clowns for fun are MEN. Men who think it is BANTZ, a laugh, a bit of a giggle. There are very few women who would think, I know, I will scare people as they walk home alone from a night out, because they KNOW that walking home alone, even if it is 50 metres down the road is scary enough.

I don't need a clown to make my heart stop briefly when I am walking home in the dark. A leaf underfoot, a cat running across the road, a car slowing down nearby. ALL THINGS GUARANTEED to terrify a woman. WANT TO THROW IN A CLOWN AND JUST MAKE THINGS WORSE?

YOU BASTARD.

But it is my fault I suppose, I just don't GET THE JOKE, do I? I just don't get it. IT'S FUN. IT is JUST A LAUGH, I need to lighten up, don't I? God, WOMEN, they are SO TOUCHY.

If you think that the clown epidemic is a "bit of a laugh" consider the people who are already scared to walk home in the dark, If you are a person who is unnerved by the clowns, realise that THIS IS HOW WOMEN FEEL, ALL THE TIME.

If you are thinking of dressing up as a clown to scare people, don't be THAT GUY.

And if you find yourself surrounded by clowns one night, always go straight for the juggler. (Clown joke, coz)

What do you think about the clown epidemic? Is the media focus making it worse? Are Clowns this years False Widows?

Let me know.

  1. I was having a conversation about this with someone last night. Take them out the costume and they'd be perceived as a predator so what part of that is funny. I also think the reporting on this hasn't helped, calling it a "craze" makes it sound cool to those with nothing better to do than play dress up. I am also suspicious that this is some kind of publicity stunt gone a bit wrong..it can't be coincidence that there is a new adaptation out?

  2. Totally agree with you, what type of moron thinks his is a funny thing to do? Hilarious until one of them gets a broken nose(or worse) from some petrified person.

  3. I usually walk my dog before we go to bed, my girlfriend comes with me because I hate going out by myself when it gets dark, even more so now because of this, I've seen some things on Facebook and in my local paper saying a few people have spotted them near where I am so I'm like EHHHHHHH. I'll walk the dog earlier I think.
The people doing these horrible things don't tend to think about how their own family members would feel if they were put in this situation, would you let your sister, mother, even nephew, whoever, go out alone at night without a little worry. Please.

  5. Ergh I totally agree with you, like we need to be more terrified of walking home in the dark. I swear to God if some clown motherfucker thinks it's funny to come at me they will be getting either a foot to the balls OR if I'm in a car, I will mount the kerb and scare them right back. Hopefully it all dies down soon.

  6. I'm really concerned by this as it's been reported in Leeds now. I live by myself, if I don't get home, there is nobody waiting to notice my absence. Also, it's not just 'scaring people', and as much as a lot of people are saying they'd march up to a clown and confront them, as with any predator, you're risking them having a weapon. Which is fucking terrifying.

    1. It's so true. I'm hoping that a large percentage of the clowns are idiot teens but as V says above, take away the suit and that's a predator

  7. I'm really anxious about going out of the house now, even though none have attacked anyone or whatever, the potential is there. Costume or not it is predatory behaviour.

I'm currently on maternity leave and not wanting to leave the house is not helping matters at all. I don't know how I would react if I was approached while I was out with the pram.

    1. I am sorry you feel that way, I do hope the whole thing blows over fast. Trust me, if you are out with baby, you will fuck up any clown that comes within sniffing distance of baby.

Good luck with it all xxxx
