The Mannequin Challenge with The White Rose #WRose20Years

I think we have all, at one time or another, wanted to have the opportunity to style some mannequins, haven't we? (Tell me it's not just me) and for the White Rose Shopping centre in Leeds, to help them celebrate their 20th Birthday, I was given the opportunity to do just that.

(I'm totally adding stylist to my Twitter bio and no-one can stop me)

The Brief.

As The White Rose Shopping Centre was born in '97 I was given £97 per mannequin and asked to create style three mannequins, a male, a female and a child.

What I want to do was find a theme to tie all the mannequins together, without making them look as if they were all wearing the same outfit. For me, that had to be denim. I do love a good pair of jeans.

I do love a man in ripped jeans and a smart jacket, don't you? To me, it is just the nicest of outfits.

Look at him, he knows he looks glorious.

I took my youngest daughter along to help me get some style inspiration for the child mannequin.

The jeans actually have Mickey Mouse on them, so we teamed them with the headband to soften the look of the jacket a little. You cannot look threatening or 'ard when you have a pom pom headband, can you?

And we absolutely loved this backpack from New Look, we added the birdcage keyring from Claires Accessories because, why not?

The female mannequin was quite a challenge, I wanted it to complement the look of the male and female mannequins, without making it too samey, plus, who can resist a powerful female slogan T?

This TopShop T says Female Of The Future. Boom

Teamed with a bag from Primark no less.

Each outfit cost exactly £97, and I absolutely LOVED putting them together, I want to do more. I want to dress up random mannequins everywhere, it was so much fun. But it just goes to prove how you can get EVERYTHING you need from The White Rose shopping centre, I am a huge lover of doing all my shopping in one place. IN THE DRY.

Also, check out Lucinda from The Fashion Fictionary's mannequins.

and Bee from Queen Beady's mannequins too, HOW COOL ARE THEIRS!!!!!!!!

What do you think of my looks? I had great fun putting them together and I know Bee and Lucinda did too,

Let me know.

Let's Hear It For The Sofa Desk

Let's face it, a pretty desk at home is wonderful for the 'Gram, but how many of you with a blogging desk end up covering your desk with clothes and working from the sofa?

I am sans desk, deskless, without a desk, I have no desk, and when I see people with beautiful desks that they work from, I turn a wonderful shade of green  just for a moment, before I remember, I HAVE A SOFA DESK.

The humble sofa desk comes with various optional extras, The sofa desk blanket is a popular bolt-on, as are the numerous sofa desk cushions that can also be artfully arranged onto the sofa desk making it into a sofa desk CAVE.

Even pets much prefer a sofa desk to a plain desk and there is a hell of a lot more room for pets on a sofa desk.

When I am at my sofa desk, I can put my feet up, I can curl up on my side, I can sit up straight if I choose, (this rarely happens) at a desk you are pretty restricted with your seating.

Ok, I will admit, my sofa desk can sometimes be taken over by other people (RUDE) I don't have as much storage as I would have, if I had a beautiful desk, and my stationery doesn't even have a HOME!! (Sad times, right?)

Would I have a desk if I had the room? HELL YES I WOULD.

Would I still blog from my sofa desk?

You know what, I probably would.

How about you?

Are you a desk or sofa desk kind of person?

Date Night, with tastecard

Now I don't know about you, but in my house, date night is special, with three children, two in their teens and one in their last year of primary school we don't get as many opportunities to spend time in each others company as we would like.

But when we DO get the chance............

A perfect date night in my opinion, HAS to include food. There is no room for negotiation here, I am having food, anything else you want to do, great. Want to go dance on tables? I am IN. Want to watch a movie? I will bring popcorn in my bag, (because NO-ONE can afford large drink, popcorn and a hot dog, oh and nachos) want to go and sit on the top of a hill, looking at the twinkling lights of the city below you and just spend time in each others company? I will do this as often as you like, but dear god, I WANT FOOD FIRST.

Which is where my tastecard comes in.

50% off or two-for-one deals means that my perfect date nights are even cheaper. (Does this mean I can spend more money on my outfit? It does, doesn't it? )

Pizza Express, Prezzo, Ask, even 2-4-1 on Papa Johns delivery. It is worth it for the pizza offers on their own.

(Well now I want pizza)

In fact, I'm changing my mind. My perfect date night would involve STAYING IN AND EATING PIZZA and if my husband wants to join me.......... then that's ok too.

If you want more information on tastecard, check out the website I highly recommend taking a look, it has been one of those things that in the past I have just overlooked, but if food is your thing, you can save so much money by buying a tastecard, I have already saved more money than the outlay in a month.

What would be YOUR perfect date night?

Do you already have a tastecard?

Let me know what you think.

Who's up for pizza?

Models Own, Leeds. new store in Trinity Leeds

Following on from the "Bottle Shop" Models Own have just opened a brand new STORE in Trinity Leeds, A STORE. Now I am a huge fan of the Bottle-shaped stands in shopping centres, but lets face it, a store where you can walk around, play with products and take a moment to surround yourself with fellow make-up fans? YES PLEASE.

Balloon with Models Own printed on it

I visited the new Models Own store last week to experience the store whilst it was closed, just me, quite a few other bloggers and fellow make up fans and the owners of Models Own, who can I just take a moment or two to say, are really, really, REALLY nice guys. They brought tears to my eyes with the talk of their love for cosmetics, what they have learnt along the way and also their brotherly love. I find it SO much easier to give all my money to companies with a heart. Models Own TRULY has a heart.

Lets talk about the store.

I think Models Own are best known for their Nail Varnishes, hence the Bottle Shops, but did you know how many more products Models Own create? A HUGE AMOUNT, you can cover your WHOLE face in purely Models Own if you so desire.

From the Supernatural Palette which is fast gaining cult status, to the beautiful gold sheen in the Sculpt and Glow highlight collection, you can find everything in you need/want/desire at Models Own.

Take a look at some of the imagery below.

The Dare To Bare collection is just stunning. I can't wait to get just a hint of summer colour as this collection is just crying out to be worn in the sun. I have also fallen head over heels with everything in the Holochrome collection. HELLO Holochrome lipgloss.

The new store is now open in Trinity Leeds, if you aren't lucky enough to live in Leeds, check out where your nearest store or bottle shop is here

or you can purchase online here

Are you a fan of Models Own? Whats your GO TO product? Mine is definitely the Sculpt & Glow palette.

I Believe In (Sinead) Pink Fairies with Lindy Bop

When this dress was first released, just a couple of weeks ago, I am not ashamed to admit that I purchased it just 15 minutes after receiving the email. Look at it, it is stunningly different. I like a style of dress that stands out and the Sinead really does that.

The top half of the dress is a matte finish poly fabric rather than being stiff, which means it has quite a bit of give in the size.

Unfortunately it doesn't come with wings, guess the secret is out, I am a fairy.

The dress is currently still in stock in certain sizes and if your size is out of stock, hopefully it will be back soon.

You can find the dress here -> Lindy Bop Sinead Pink Fairies Swing Dress and it is just £30

Homesense Leeds

Everyone knows about Homesense, don't they? I have spent plenty of hours in my lifetime browsing through my local Homesense, picking up one off items that I love.

That's the thing about Homesense though isn't it? You can't walk away from an item that you are not sure whether to buy, because you know that if you change your mind later and go back to buy it, it won't be there and they usually won't have another one. I don't know about you, but that kind of pressure makes me buy it immediately, I can't take that risk that I won't buy it, will regret it and will never be able to find another one. The FOMO is STRONG.

Last week, I was invited to take a look around the brand new Homesense that has just opened in Leeds. Now this Homesense is different from a lot of other ones in that it is ON THE HIGH STREET. Most Homesense stores are on retail parks, in fact I was told that this is only the second store to be on a high street. Leeds, we are blessed.

The new Homesense store in Leeds is set over two floors and is an Aladdin's cave of treasures. Did I know I wanted a bird cage when I walked into the store? No, I didn't. Did I walk out with a bird cage? Yes, yes I did and I am not even sorry.

From beautifully set out furniture,

furniture in a store

to statues and sculptures of anything you could ever wish to display in your home.

Shelf of ornaments

Perhaps your heart desires a silver dog?

Silver dog

or some storage woven out of paper?

paper waste basket

That is the true beauty of Homesense though, isn't it? You don't actually know what you want, until you see it and then you can think of nothing else. I WISH I had purchased the penguin wash basket that I shared on my Instagram on Wednesday, I truly do. but I didn't. And now it is lost to me forever.

Other things that I drooled over in the store were the pastel Le Crueset stoneware, a gorgeous silver velvet chair and notebooks. LOTS and LOTS of notebooks.

I think I am going to be a regular visitor to the new Homesense store in Leeds, it has opened up on the Headrow, in the old Clas Ohlesen store. I urge you to pay them a visit if you are in Leeds. Just save some of the good stuff for me, and LET ME KNOW if you see a penguin wash basket, I BEG YOU.

You can check out where your nearest store is at

Are you a Homesense fan? What have you been buying from there recently? Let me know.

Feline Fine In Lindy Bop Fashion,

I think it is safe to say that I have developed my "style" over the last few years. Give me a night out and a little while to get ready and I will come out looking good, smelling great and wearing a vintage-style outfit guaranteed to make you go, WOW.

I have been shopping more and more with Lindy Bop lately, (There is actually another post coming later in the week featuring MORE Lindy Bop-I'm not even sorry) Everything from their NEW IN section to their SALE section is full of such amazing show stopping pieces that I could go back to the website every day and I would still find more things to buy. I am loving all the full skirts on the site at the moment, there are so many different styles and colours to choose from. I usually wear them with a petticoat underneath, just to give them even more fullness, but they can easily be worn without.

Todays outfit is the "Cara" Pink Cat Border Print Swing Dress It is also available in a skirt, (I'm tempted) and if cats aren't your thing, then the Cara comes in different prints too. Check them out in the NEW IN section of Lindy Bop here ->
